Message from the President - January 2024

Happy New Year to all of our valued members of Branch 91, Langford Legion. I do hope everyone had an enjoyable Christmas and holiday season with family and friends.

As many of you know, our branch has been extremely busy since our re-opening earlier last fall. Our new, modern lounge has been very well received by everyone that has come for lunch, dinner, a sports game or just a refreshment. One of our most popular events has been our "Fish and Chip Night" each Friday. Your executive, staff and volunteers are delighted with its popularity. Hopefully, this continues this year.

The one issue that has been ongoing since re-opening is the pressing need for volunteers. For those that have supported the branch by helping with auditorium setup, food preparation, serving at events, dishwashing and serving in the lounge, we cannot thank you enough. But the fact is we can only succeed if we have an expanded volunteer base.

So, if you are available and would like to help the branch, please contact:

The office (secretary@rcl91.ca) or myself (president@rcl.91.ca) I know that you will find it both gratifying and fun and we will ensure you are fully knowledgeable for the task at hand.

Our new auditorium has also held many events, particularly through December. Again, it's impressive new look has received many compliments from visitors throughout Victoria. The facility continues to be booked throughout the coming months. Needless to say, we are very pleased regarding the fact it is being utilized so much.

As mentioned previously, the lounge continues to provide many sporting activities for our members and visitors including pool, darts and shuffleboard. If you are interested in any of these or joining a league, again contact the office or check our website.

If you could, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the 2023 Executive for their service to the Branch members. Without your support over the last year, it would have created much more work.

In closing, on behalf of the Executive, I want to thank all of our staff and volunteers that have helped to make our new branch such a successful part of our West Shore Communities. I am fully confident this will continue throughout 2024.

President
