Welcome to another month of ‘winter’ on southern Vancouver Island. While spring is not far off, I know many of our members have been very pleased with the many sunny days we had throughout January, as it has been so much easier to get around. If we do receive colder weather in the coming days, please be aware of icy sections outside of the Legion.
First, I would like to sincerely thank our First Vice President, Bea Leblanc, for her tireless efforts as Chair of our Ways and Means Committee. Throughout the holiday season, the kitchen was completely booked with events in the auditorium, as well as all the regular hours for meals in the lounge. Bea, the staff and all the volunteers worked extremely hard to make it such a wonderful time for our members and guests.
The branch has also begun recruiting for a manager and secretary positions. If you know of anyone who may have the appropriate qualifications for either position, and who would like employment locally, here in Langford, please contact me directly.
Regarding our much-valued group of volunteers, as I noted in the past, our branch is only successful on those that help, whether that is assisting in the kitchen or setting up for special events. While we do have a dedicated group of people that volunteer on a regular basis, more assistance would be greatly appreciated. If you have a few hours a week to help, please do not hesitate to contact the branch as it is very rewarding.
I would like to remind those that play pool or darts in the lounge to please be considerate of each other and to end your game when advised to do so, so you are not interfering with other players.
Finally, this is just a reminder that if you have not paid your membership dues, please do so.
Have a great February and we look forward to seeing you at the branch!
Norm Scott
President
